First Women, Peace and Security Community of Practice Consultation Meeting of ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation

On 13 March 2025, ASEAN-IPR hosted the inaugural online consultation meeting for the establishment of the ASEAN Women, Peace and Security Community of Practice (WPS CoP).

The consultation brought together diverse participants from across the region, including experts, civil society organisations (CSOs), academics, researchers, women and youth organisations, and media professionals.

The meeting aimed to consult participants on how to build and operationalise the CoP, as well as to gather input on proposed activities and ways of working. This initial step is crucial in establishing a strong foundation to advance the WPS agenda in the region.

Moving forward, the CoP will serve as a platform for multi-stakeholder engagement, sharing of best practices, avenue to build partnerships, promote joint action, and create a collaborative effort to implement and advance WPS initiatives in ASEAN.

ASEAN-IPR hopes that the valuable insights from participants in this initial consultation will help shape the future of the ASEAN WPS CoP and, ultimately, the future of peace and security in the region.
