Abstract

Thailand recognizes the importance of protecting women’s rights in conflict situations and promoting women’s roles in conflict resolution at all levels.

The vision of the National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security 2024-2027 is: “Gender equality is a key factor in preventing and resolving conflicts and threats to human security, leading to peace and sustainable development.” It aims to achieve two key outcomes: 1) Women’s skills and roles in conflict resolution and peacebuilding in communities and society are demonstrated and fully utilized; and 2) Women have increased participation in decision-making processes in policy-making and future planning that impacts sustainable human security in formal settings to address social tensions, protect women’s rights, and participate in peace processes. This Action Plan is based on three principles: 1) Gender equality; 2) Using a human rights-based approach; and 3) Considering the diverse needs of various target groups.
