In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in the Southern Philippines, mediators play an important role in preventing and resolving conflicts and supporting survivors. Through the “Empowering Women for Sustainable Peace: Preventing Violence and Promoting Social Cohesion in ASEAN” project supported by the Governments of Canada, the Republic of Korea, and the United Kingdom, UN Women has provided gender-responsive mediation trainings to promote the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Gender-responsive mediation is crucial to ensure women’s needs and voices are acknowledged and reflected for peace to last in communities.
